One year on from the 'green light' for the NRC Programme

Construction of the National Rehabilitation Centre building is underway at Stanford Hall on the Nottinghamshire-Leicestershire border

Posting 12 months on from our official ‘green light’ moment, the potential of the NRC is becoming even clearer with our building shaping up and our wider programme picking up pace as we get ready to start treating patients in 2025.

Back in , Programme Director Miriam Duffy said that “The National Rehabilitation Centre will transform how we provide clinical rehabilitation in this country” and Natalie Forrest of the New Hospital Programme said that “The benefits to NHS patients will be substantial and life changing.”

Today, those aspirations are a step closer to becoming reality.

Our latest construction images and drone footage show a building that’s moving towards its final stages and fit out – you can get a real sense of it from these latest photographs taken in September.

There’s a great deal more to do, of course, but we’re excited by the progress and grateful to everyone who has contributed to getting us this far.

The achievement will only be realised when the benefits start flowing for patients – that’s the measure that matters and the thing we’re looking forward to most.

For now, we’re pleased to make another milestone in the journey to deliver the NRC.

This time next year? Now that will be interesting and here’s looking forward to it.
