All colleagues have a role to play in ensuring we deliver on the University strategy safely and responsibly. For those undertaking research, it’s especially important to know what this means.
If you’re embarking on a new partnership, formal research collaboration, informal research collaboration or innovation activity, you must consider the economic and national security issues that may be involved.
Colleagues undertaking research must:
- Undertake the mandatory Export Control and National Security and Investment Act training modules
- Reflect on whether these regimes apply to their research, paying particular attention to collaborations involving destinations subject to trade sanctions, arms embargoes, and other trade restrictions
- Undertake due diligence on all third parties involved in delivering a project including, partners, co-authors and collaborators involved in their research
- Ask for help where needed
